Indiana National Guard Member Opens Fire On Migrant Stabbing Others At US-Mexico Border

A member of the Indiana National Guard, stationed at the Texas border as part of Operation Lone Star, reportedly shot a migrant who allegedly attacked two individuals with a knife, according to News Nation.

The National Guard’s media department acknowledged the incident on April 14 and affirmed their support for all the soldiers and airmen involved in Operation Lone Star in a press release.

In a statement, the National Guard released the following statement: “The Indiana National Guard is aware of the incident that happened Sunday, April 14. We support and care for our soldiers and airmen supporting Operation Lone Star.”

The shooting and stabbing both occurred on the Texas side of the southern border.

An Indiana National Guard soldier, deployed to the nation’s border in Texas, shot a migrant who had stabbed two people, according to the cable news network NewsNation.

“The Indiana National Guard is aware of the incident that happened Sunday, April 14,” reads a statement from the National Guard’s media department. “We support and care for our soldiers and airmen supporting Operation Lone Star.”

The Indiana National Guard as well as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection deferred to the Texas Military Department for additional information on the shooting.

The Texas Military Department confirmed a National Guard service member “discharged a weapon in a border-related incident.” The shooting is under investigation and more info will be released as it becomes available, according to a statement from the Texas Military Department.

Currently, 50 members of Indiana’s National Guard are deployed at the U.S.-Mexico border.
