Smiths Station, AL, Mayor F.L. ‘Bubba’ Copeland has committed suicide just days after conservative news site 1819 News published an investigative report on Copeland’s secret life as a transgender.
In 1819 News’ investigative report, they discovered Mayor Copeland who also served as a pastor at Phenic City’s First Baptist Church was posting photos of himself in women’s underwear on Reddit, and Instagram while captioning the photos with vulgar statements such as being “thick transgender woman” and about being a “whore” and getting “f****d.”
Copeland’s death has been confirmed by Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones.
The sheriff’s office said that at approximately 4:15 p.m. CT, deputies were notified that the mayor might require a welfare check.
A slow pursuit started after deputies located Copeland in the Beulah neighborhood area. The mayor reportedly went onto Lee Road and came to a stop. He pulled out a pistol and took his own life after getting out of his car. Copeland served as a pastor at Phenic City’s First Baptist Church.

According to the sheriff’s office, around 4:15 p.m. CT, deputies received information regarding the mayor needing a possible welfare check. Deputies found Copeland in the Beulah community area, where a slow pursuit began.
Officials say the mayor turned onto Lee Road 275 north of Yarbroughs Crossroads and pulled over. When he exited his vehicle, he produced a handgun and used it to take his own life.
Prior to his death, News Leader 9 spoke with the 1819 News Reporter Craig Monger, who originally published an article showing several photos of Copeland dressed in women’s clothing. He says all the quotes in his story were from Phenix City Reverend and Smiths Station Mayor.
The article also included pictures of the pastor wearing women’s underwear that he posted on Instagram and Reddit.

In the social media posts, Copeland can be seen wearing several articles of his wife’s clothing, as shown by her social media.
Additionally, Copeland regularly commented on other posts, referring to himself as a “thick transgender woman” and encouraging other transgender individuals to go on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Copeland also posted transgender pornography, often giving vivid captions describing being a “whore” and getting “f****d.”
