Creepy Population Control Measure Included In $1.7 Trillion Omnibus Bill

Representative Dan Bishop of North Carolina has criticized a provision in a $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill that allocates $575 million for family planning services such as abortion clinics in areas with high population growth.

Bishop called the provision “sinister” and argued that the Malthusian ideology behind it, which seeks to control population growth to protect the environment, has “ZERO place in any federal program.”

The provision in the 4,200-page bill has faced criticism from several Republican figures as an example of wasteful government spending. It is not clear what type of family planning services would be provided with the funding.

The Washington Times however, wasn’t as determined as Rep. Bishop to declare the bill as sinister and reported:

It’s unclear why the provision expressly notes it should go toward areas where population growth threatens biodiversity or what type of family planning services would be provided with the funding.
