On Thursday, around 2:15 p.m., students sitting near LeFrak Hall at the University of Maryland experienced an unsettling encounter with an unknown man exhibiting concerning behavior. The man, described as a male with a heavy build, bald, and wearing black sweats, was reportedly shouting and hitting himself as he approached students sitting outside.
According to witnesses, the man was shirtless and had a belt around his neck.
The man also had visible red marks on his torso after he allegedly started to inflict harm on himself.
Following several students filing reports on the man, campus police were promptly alerted to the situation.
Once UMPD located the man on McKeldin Mall, he was taken into custody, but his charges have yet to be released to the public.
