Junior Welterweight boxer Ryan Garcia fought against Gervonta Davis on Saturday night in what some have deemed as one of the most anticipated boxing matches of the year.
Garcia ultimately lost the fight in the 7th round by TKO but the previously undefeated boxer did not let his first loss get the best of him.
In his interview after the fight, Garcia told the world “No matter what even if I lose, I want to say thank you Jesus Christ for all he does in my life.”

ESPN had more details regarding Garcia’s loss:
Ryan Garcia took a beat, then dropped to one knee, the delayed effect of a stinging liver shot from Gervonta “Tank” Davis that floored Garcia for the second time in their super fight on Saturday, and this time, he didn’t beat the count.
The referee reached the count of 10 at 1:44 of Round 7 before 20,842 at the sold-out T-Mobile Arena, an anticlimactic but conclusive finish to boxing’s most-anticipated matchup in years.
“I couldn’t breathe,” said Garcia, 24. “I was going to get back up, but I just couldn’t get up. … He just caught me with a good shot – I don’t want to make no excuses in here – … and I just couldn’t recover. … He caught me with a good body shot, snuck under me and caught me good.”
It’s easy to give God thanks when you are on top but much harder to do so when you have experienced a setback.
The prophet Daniel knew this firsthand but still gave thanks to God whether he was in the King’s palace or the lion’s den he gave thanks to God no matter what.
You know why?
Because Jesus is good no matter what happens!
Thessalonians 5:18 reads: “Thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.”
