Last month, a pigeon was apprehended at the Pacific Institution correctional facility near Vancouver, Canada, after it was found to be carrying a backpack with crystal meth.
John Randle, Pacific regional president of the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers, expressed his surprise upon learning the news. “My initial reaction was shock because of all the advancements in technology and the number of drones we’ve seen,” said Randle.
The bird was captured after correctional officers set a trap on the penitentiary wall.
