Nirvana Producer Steve Albini Dies At 61

Steve Albini, a longtime record producer who is most famous for being the producer of the 90s grunge band Nirvana, passed away at the age of 61.

The New York Post reported staffers from Albini’s recording studio, Electric Audio, confirmed Albini passed away after suffering a heart attack.

Albini’s most notable production was Nirvana’s 1993 album Utero, which was Nirvana’s last recording studio album before the band’s frontman Kurt Cobain died from committing suicide.

Besides working with Nirvana, Albini also worked with the Pixies, The Jesus Lizard, The Stooges, Cheap Trick, and many other bands.

Steve Albini, the famed record producer and musician who worked with storied rock groups such as Nirvana, Pixies, The Jesus Lizard and others, has died at 61 of a heart attack, according to reports.

Staffers from his recording studio, Electric Audio, confirmed the rocker’s death to Pitchfork.

Albini is best known for producing Nirvana’s 1993 cult-classic album In Utero, in which he helped craft the record’s abrasive and metallic tones.

He is also credited as a pioneer who brought 80s indie outfits like Pixies to the mainstream, leading the way for other underground acts’ success.

Albini not only found success in the music industry but was also known as a great Poker player.

In 2022, Albini won a World Series of Poker gold bracelets after defeating over 700 other competitors.
